The state of Louisiana’s government, over the past ten years, has advanced to that point.
I think that it can be traced back to Mike Foster. In the last years of Foster’s second term the amount of government jobs was up 1968 jobs which was 20% higher than the last years of Edwin W. Edwards. As much as I wan on Kathleen Blanco, she did cut state jobs, but middle of Bobby Jindal’s first term as governor saw an in increase in state workers.
For a “republican” this should hurt, but it seems that he has curried enough good will that it will not affect him much.
With the economy the way that it is, the state definitely needs to cut some of the fat. Sure, when you are cooking somthing you need fat for taste, but too much fat makes the thing that one cooks taste bad and to much fat can kill someone.
