The constitution states that there is a freedom of speech. The courts have taken it a step further by saying that there is not only a right to speak but also a right to listen.
Our new president and congress are making noises like they are going to try to reinstated the Fairness Doctrine.
There is a big problem. There are numerous court cases that have taken, and will take place that would knock out the Fairness Doctrine and McCain-Fiengold.
If every thing goes through, there will, no longer, be the ability for radio and television to run political ads and commentary that would be contradictory to what is going on by the ruling class.
There will also be the ability to go after those who are the listeners to this so-called subversive speech. If they have their way, there could be a chip in a radio that would allow them to find out exactly who is listening to the Rush Limbaugh’s of the world. What would happen next is that they could come and harass the particular listeners. This, plus interrupting the shows as they are on the air and forcing the stations to hire people that would reprogram said radio stations.
That is truly a scary thought.
