The governor of Louisiana recently refused a portion of the stimulus bill.
Smart move.
The fact of the matter is that if he had accepted the entire amount of stimulus money because, even though the president said that there would be no strings, there are.
Look, I have had some problems with some of the things that Bobby Jindal has put forward, so-called accomplished, and actually done but there are no free lunches.
Everything cost money including money. We see what kind of power the government has over money in terms of the public schools. If a teacher does not teach the way that the government thinks that he or she should, then the school could gets is funding cut.
I compare the government to the Joker in the late 1980's Batman movie. What happened was that at a point in the movie, the Joker was going to dump millions of dollars on the crowd. The crowd thought it was going to be free but he (Joker) knew, beforehand that he was going to try to kill everyone that showed up.
Sure the government has refused it, but there is a paragraph in the bill that states that the particular legislature to go around the particular governor. That is truly playing politics.
