A lot of these U.S. Congressmen and Senators have massive egos. They are interested in sefl-preservation. All they want is to get re-elected.

A good example of this is that Arlen Specter. This man is a politically expedient politician. He saw that he would be having a problem winning the republican primary. I am not so sure that he would win the democratic primary..

Where are the statesmen? There are very few of them on either side of isle.
