There are certain times that there are big shifts in public sentiment. This is one of these times.
The issue of gay marriage has been a hot-button issue. It is slowly becoming less so.
It has always been a vocal minority that has been for it. These people had done a phenomenal job of getting people on their side but there has been an incredible switch in the minds and hearts of the American people.
I think that it all started with the election of George W. Bush. There are many states that have constitutional amendments that state that marriage is between a man and a woman. The biggest blow came when a liberal state, California, went through the debate. The people in favor of gay marriage got the law that was passed thrown out. Then the politicians, along with the public, decided to change the their constitution. When the people for gay marriage tried to say that the people and the state California did not have the right to change their constitution. Then the eighth circuit/circus of appeals said to the vocal minority to sit down and shut up.
The paradigm has shifted.
