On Wednesday November 26 2008 the state of Louisiana received the first round of disaster relief block grants from the federal government.
This is much needed because the state got hit hard by both Ike and Gustav. Everything in the state from infrastructure to agriculture got hit and needs to be fixed before the next hurricane season arrives.
The problem is that as fast as the feds got the money here is how slow the money will be spent by the state. It is not just the appalling lack of speed in which the money will be spent but it is also the fact that some of the money will be misspent. You give a government that much money and they will find ways to spend it on the government and not of the places in which it was ment.
This money was specifically ment to relieve the good people of Louisiana from the burdens and pressures caused by the two storms.
