Governor Rick Perry (R-Texas) made some comments at one of the tax day TEA parties that if things keep going the ay that they are, then the different-thinking peoples of Texas might think of secession. Sure, secession has a negative connotation, but there is a growing frustration with the federal government.
The people of Texas are a different sort. One of their favorite phrases is
“Everything is bigger in Texas.”
I think that this was another way of a Texan use that phrase to the hilt. If this case it is used to show the thinking of the people who where cowboy hats and have horns on the front of their cars.
More than that, they have a singular history. They were the only state that was its own country/republic first. It is the state of the Alamo. They have the utmost respect for what that building represents.
I don’t doubt that Mr. Perry has gotten that feeling started and if things keep going the way that they are, then there is a shot that this will come to pass.
