In certain areas of the state of Louisiana there are certain families that have made themselves into dynasties.

In this parish one of those is the Duponts. A Dupont has been in the office of Iberville assessor for several generations. That ended in the last election when John Randall “Randy” Sexton won the office. Granted, Sexton’s father was a politician but Randy’s father has not been in office for a long time.

In these type of parishes, that is to say smaller ones, there will continue to be these type of dynasties because of the lack of population. Furthermore, as long as we continue to lose population, this problem will start to rear its head in the bigger parishes and cities.
